Živalce.si looks much the same this month, but it has changed where it counts when you need something fast. You can now see at a glance who is open right now. Breed pages show breeders of that breed. There are two new animal groups, Birds and Small mammals. And providers can now manage their own listing, photos included. Here is everything that is new.
- Open / Closed: every provider with clear opening hours shows how long they are still open, or when they open again.
- »Open now« switch: in all six directories, one click shows only the providers that are open at this moment.
- Hours by day: the provider page sets out the whole week, with today highlighted.
- Breeders on breed pages: while reading about a breed, you see straight away who breeds it.
- New animals: the Birds and Small mammals groups add 16 species, from the canary to the African pygmy hedgehog.
- For providers: up to 3 photos free, self-service editing and monthly visitor statistics.
Who is open right now?
It is Sunday evening, the cat will not eat, and you wonder which clinic is even open. Instead of opening one website after another, open the vets directory and turn on Open now. The list narrows to the clinics that are open at this moment, each showing until when: »Open · until 19:00«.
It works the same way in all six directories: grooming salons, dog schools, vets, pet hotels, shelters and breeders. When a provider is closed, the label says when they open again, for example »Closed · opens tomorrow at 8:00«.
Opening hours for the whole week
Every provider page now lists the opening hours day by day, with today highlighted and the same Open or Closed label next to the name. Alongside are a map, the address with a directions button, and large tiles to call, email or visit the website.
Breeders on breed pages
Anyone choosing a breed sooner or later looks for a breeder. Every breed page now has a Breeders for this breed box next to the summary, with four breeders and a link to the rest. The Bengal cat has eleven, each with their town and a Verified mark where the breeder has confirmed their own details.
New groups: Birds and Small mammals
The encyclopedia has two new groups. Birds covers small pet birds that are not parrots: the canary, zebra finch, society finch, Gouldian finch, two kinds of dove and more. Small mammals covers animals that are neither rodents nor rabbits, among them the African pygmy hedgehog and the ferret. Each has a profile on care, space, diet and common questions.
The Which pet is right for me? quiz knows both new groups. If you say you have little space and want an animal to watch rather than cuddle, it may suggest a canary or a pair of zebra finches.
For providers: photos, editing and statistics
If you run a salon, school, clinic, hotel, shelter or breeding programme, you can now edit your listing yourself. Create a free account with the same email as on the listing and link it with one click. Under Your space → My listings you then edit the description, contacts and hours, and add up to 3 photos for free. The first is the cover, and visitors can open them full size. Upload photos straight from your phone: we resize them and remove location data.
In the same place you see how many people viewed your page and how often they tapped your phone, email or directions. Providers whose page had at least five visits in a month also get these figures by email once a month, and can unsubscribe with one click.
On your phone
Everything new was built for the phone first: the Open now switch sits above the list, labels sit next to the name, the hours are readable without zooming, and breeders appear on the breed page right below the summary.
The aim has not changed: when your animal needs something, the right answer should be one tap away, not ten browser tabs.

Frequently asked questions
Why do some providers have no Open or Closed label?
Because their hours are not a plain timetable: »by appointment«, on-call duty, seasonal work or text we cannot read reliably. We would rather show nothing than show something wrong.
Does the label account for public holidays?
No. It comes from the weekly timetable the provider publishes. Hours can differ on holidays and during breaks, so call before you go.
How many photos can a provider add, and is it paid?
Up to three photos per listing, free of charge. Add them under Your space → My listings once the listing is linked to your account.
My opening hours are wrong. How do I fix them?
Link the listing to your account and correct them under My listings, or email info@zivalce.si. To flag wrong details on another listing, use the »Report this listing« button.
