Lajka is a Ljubljana society protecting and helping animals in need; it cares for and rehomes cats and dogs presented online with stories of those already adopted, runs a forum and craft workshop, and invites support via membership and donations.
Ljubljana Animal Protection Society is a volunteer society based at Ljubljana Shelter. It handles cruelty reports, runs a responsible-ownership knowledge base, organises events and drives, and helps with care and adoption of abandoned animals.
Hrtji svet Slovenije ("Sighthound World") is a society helping sighthounds in need, arranging adoptions of mostly adult greyhounds and other sighthounds, foster homes, merchandise and canine blood donation, with breed advice online.

Ljubljana Animal Shelter at Gmajnice is one of Slovenia's largest shelters, run by the public institute Ljubljana Zoo. It takes in abandoned, lost and surrendered dogs and cats from Ljubljana and over ten contracted municipalities. The website lists all animals for adoption, the adoption procedure, found and missing animals and care advice; visits daily 2–4 pm by appointment.
