Živalce.si is no longer just an encyclopaedia of breeds. With a free account you get your own space: a place where each of your pets has a profile with a photo, a journal, weight records, reminders and health notes. The same account works on the web and in the Živalce app, so whatever you enter on your computer is on your phone straight away.
This guide shows what the space offers and how to use it, from signing up to your first weight chart. Every screenshot comes from a demo account with three made-up pets: Bela the dog, Miki the cat and Zlatko the goldfish.
- The account is free and the same on the web and in the app.
- Every pet gets its own profile with a photo, kind of animal, breed from the encyclopaedia (or your own words), sex and birth.
- Four modules per pet: Journal, Measurements (weight with a chart), Reminders and Health (medications, vaccinations, vet visits).
- You can also receive a reminder by e-mail – at your own address and, if you like, at another person's, such as a partner or a pet sitter.
- Medications and vaccinations create their own reminders, so nothing is entered twice.
- Your data is private: your pets and records are not public and only you can see them.
How to create an account
Click Sign in in the top right corner (in the mobile menu it is the Your space tab) and choose the tab for creating an account. All you need is an e-mail address and a password of at least 10 characters.
- Enter your e-mail address and password, then repeat the password.
- Confirm the terms and that you are at least 16 years old.
- Check the e-mail address in the summary — you cannot change it yourself later — and confirm.
- A confirmation link arrives by e-mail. It is valid for 24 hours; once you open it, the account is ready.
My profile: what you see right after signing in
My profile is the dashboard. At the top are three counters — how many pets you have, how many reminders are coming up and how many journal entries there are — below them your pets' cards, a Today section with the day's reminders, and the latest journal entries.
The left menu is always the same: My profile, My pets, Reminders, Journal and Settings. Reminders and Journal in that menu show the records of all your pets together; inside a pet's profile you see only that pet's.
How to add a pet
Click Add a pet (on the dashboard or under My pets). The form is short, and the only required field besides the name is the kind of animal.

When you pick a breed from the encyclopaedia, the pet's profile gets a Meet the animal link to the breed page — the general description of the breed stays separate from your pet's own details.
The pet profile: four modules in one place
Open a profile by clicking its card. At the top are the photo, name, breed and age; below them four tiles — Journal, Measurements, Reminders and Health — and a section with the pet's details. Edit details lets you change the name, photo or birth.
Measurements: logging weight and reading the chart
In the Measurements module click Log weight. A window opens with four fields: weight in kilograms, date, time (optional) and a note (optional).
- Weight is always stored in kilograms. For small animals use decimals — a 55-gram hamster is 0.055.
- The date can be in the past. If you have old readings from the vet's booklet, enter them with their dates — the chart sorts them for you.
- The note is for context: "after winter", "at the vet", "new food".
The Measurements page shows the latest measurement, the change since the previous one (for example −0.1 kg) and a chart you can switch between the last three months, the last year and all readings. Below the chart is the full list; every entry can be edited or deleted.
Journal: the notes you would forget within a year
The journal is free text with a date and time: the first walk, a new scratching post, what the vet said, when you changed the food. Entries are grouped by month, and each can be edited or deleted.
Reminders: so nothing slips
A reminder has a title, a first date, a time and a repeat: none, daily, weekly or monthly. For each reminder you choose how it should reach you:
- a notification in the app at the reminder's time;
- an e-mail to your address;
- an e-mail to an extra address — a partner, a sitter or anyone looking after the animal while you are away.
When you tick a reminder as done it moves to the Completed tab; a repeating reminder is back in its place for the next time. The Calendar button shows a month with every reminder's occurrences.
Health: medications, vaccinations and visits
The Health module has three kinds of record, each with its own button:

Settings: language, time zone, security
- Account: the notification language (Slovenian, Croatian, English) and the time zone in which your reminders are read. Pages are always shown in the language of the address you are reading.
- Security: changing your password — afterwards you stay signed in here, while every other device and the app are signed out. Below it is the list of active sessions (browsers and phone together) and a sign-out-everywhere button.
- Privacy and account: an overview of what your account holds (how many pets, entries, measurements, reminders) and permanent account deletion with all data, photos and archived pets included.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Živalce.si account free?
Yes. The account, pet profiles, journal, measurements, reminders and the Health module are free.
How many pets can I add?
All of them. Each pet gets its own profile and modules; the reminders and journal of all pets appear together in the left menu.
Can other people see my pets?
No. Pet profiles, the journal, measurements and health records are private and visible only to you when you are signed in. Only the breed pages in the encyclopaedia are public.
Is it the same account as in the Živalce app?
Yes. You sign in on the web and in the app with the same e-mail address and password; pets, records and reminders are identical on both.
How do I log the weight of a small animal, such as a hamster?
Weight is always stored in kilograms with decimals: 55 grams is entered as 0.055. The display follows your language.
Can a reminder e-mail someone else too?
Yes. For each reminder you can switch on e-mail to your own address and, additionally, to one other address.
What happens to the records if I archive a pet?
They stay readable — the journal, measurements and health records are not deleted. An archived pet just accepts no new entries.
Can I change the account's e-mail address?
Not at the moment; a change with re-confirmation is being prepared. That is why you should check the address in the summary before confirming your registration.
What if I forget my password?
On the sign-in page use the forgotten-password link and a reset link arrives by e-mail. After a reset you are signed out on every device for safety.
